Powering Maritime Safety: Solar Capture Technologies Secures 4-Year Tender with the UK & Irish General Lighthouse Authorities

We are proud to announce that Solar Capture Technologies has been awarded a 4-year supply contract with the General Lighthouse Authorities (GLAs) of the UK and Ireland — comprising Trinity House, the Northern Lighthouse Board, and the Commissioners of Irish Lights.

This award is a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to supporting critical infrastructure across marine and offshore sectors. Over the next four years, we will supply bespoke, marine-grade solar panels to power vital Aids to Navigation (AtoNs), lighthouses and offshore vessels across some of the harshest and most remote coastal environments in the region.

Trusted to Deliver in the World’s Toughest Conditions

Operating in extreme environments — from offshore lighthouse stations and vessels to unmanned buoys in the open sea — the GLAs require equipment that is durable, reliable, and built to last. Our solar panels are specially designed and engineered to meet those exacting demands.

Each panel is custom-built to the GLAs’ precise specifications, with integrated rear connectors and tailored mechanical designs that optimise energy output and system compatibility. These panels are the result of years of technical collaboration and innovation — ensuring peak performance under the most challenging environmental conditions.

We’re honoured to play a role in supporting maritime safety across the UK and Irish waters. Our team takes great pride in delivering robust, high-performance solar panels that can withstand the elements and operate reliably where failure simply isn’t an option.”

Why Solar Capture Technologies?

This was a competitive tender, and we’re proud to have scored highest across the board — a reflection of our unwavering focus on:

Quality First: All of our solar modules are manufactured under ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 systems, and tested to or in accordance with IEC and MCS standards. Every panel is fully tested throughout the manufacturing process to ensure peak performance and durability.

Proven Offshore Experience: With over a decade of experience in marine and offshore solar, we understand the stakes. Our track record with the GLAs and other critical infrastructure clients speaks for itself.

Innovation in Design: We regularly collaborate with clients to develop bespoke solutions. For example, one customer approached us with a 160W commercial module that underperformed to around 130W in the field. We delivered a custom panel with a 190W output — using the same footprint.

Sustainability & Ethical Manufacturing: From environmental stewardship to product longevity, we take a lifecycle approach to designing clean energy products that last longer and perform better.

Built for the Marine Sector — and Beyond

While this contract focuses on marine solar panel supply, our capabilities go far beyond lighthouses, boats and buoys. We welcome inquiries from sectors where bespoke, high-reliability solar panels are mission-critical — including:

-Offshore & Renewable Energy

-Environmental Monitoring Systems

-Defence & Naval Infrastructure

-Remote Communications & Surveillance

-Government & Research Installations
