High Added Value Modules for Building Integrated PV (BIPV)

  • Project partners: Solar Capture Technologies, PV Crystalox and Romag


Project Objectives

  • Development of processes for manufacture and commercialisation of coloured multi-crystalline solar cells and panels for use in the BIPV market
  • Establish process control requirements that affect ARC thickness and hence colour appearance
  • Demonstrate commercially interesting module designs utilising coloured cells for use in the BIPV market


Solar Capture Technologies’ achievements

  • Research and development into the ARC processing parameters that can effect colour variation
  • Manufacture of many colour cell samples for assembly into commercial style panels
  • Experimentation with new techniques in cell processing to establish novel cell colours and shapes for integration into aesthetically pleasing solar panels
  • Submission of research to international conferences and achieving a Best Poster award at the 33rd IEEE Photovoltaic Specialist conference in San Diego USA for the Havemor work.
